I learned that 2d art isn't just coloring pictures. It has to do a lot with technique and mixing colors together. You really need to blend and learn to shade tastefully. Without contrast and bright colors you can create a whole different atmosphere. I love using bright colors but if you are going for a darker gloomier look you won't be needing those.
My favorite project would have to be the temper paint posterize project. I thought that it was a really fun and exciting project, I really enjoy mixing the paint. I also liked that if you messed up you could always just go over it again. I also thought that we could use more of a variety of brush sizes for smaller details.
I like to work with paint of course. It is fun and messy and I love it! I think we should do a very detailed painting on any subject that we want. I would also like to do it on a canvas for a change. This way the paper doesn't bend and wrinkle up.
So far so good! I really liked this last semester of art and can't wait to keep going with it! I hope we do some other interesting assignments and work with other materials. I feel like I have really been improving, since the first few assignments. All I can say is that I really enjoy it and can't wait to see what's in store for the next semester.

Posterize painting! :)

This is a posterize painting. I learned that you need to layer the painting, when you want a variation of colors. I also learned that it is very time consuming and takes a lot of effort. I thought mixing multiple colors together made it work well. I feel like I need to improve on my little details and take my time on the smaller parts.

Water Colors :)

This is a painting of a flower I took a picture of. I learned that watercolors are hard. You really have to control the water and paint so it doesn't mix together. I think my strengths were layering the paint and my weaknesses were the paint running and the background. I think I need to improve on my paint strokes and controlling the water.

Zentangle :)

These are two zentangle projects one has color and one is in black and white. I learned that you eventually run out of ideas for designs after doing it for so long. I think my black and white one went really well I feel like the whole thing just turned out really well. Some areas for improvement are in the colored one the markers kind of bleed. If I could go back I would wait for all the markers to dry.

Textography!

This is textography. I used a pencil and sharpie to make it happen. I learned that using text in pictures is way harder than you think. I think the words I used were good and I'm proud that the words show who Obama is about. I could improve on my shading because I tried to on the hair and I feel like it didn't work as well as I wanted, that is also what I was least proud of.

Scratch Board

I decided to scratch out a sun because you could make it have a lot of texture and different lines and designs. I learned that scratch board isn't as hard as it looks, if you just keep with it and keep adding lines it can turn out great. I thought my shading worked well on the clouds because by the time I got to the clouds I had a lot of experience. I think I could improve on not ripping through the paper sometimes I would press down a little too hard.

My Ink Drawing

Still Life #1
I drew a bottle with flowers in it using an ebony pencil, on cream paper. I learned that flowers are a lot harder to draw than they look. I also thought that shading is hard to make. I'm proud of how my leaves turned out, I think they look a lot better than when I first began drawing. I'm not proud of my flowers I think they could have turned out way better, but it was good practice. Hope you enjoy!
